If your projector is equipped with a focus motor, this kit is the perfect solution for you. However, if your projector does not have a focus motor, we recommend ordering the Link & Rivet Set for Pre-1981 Kodak Carousel Slide Projector.
The most common cause of failure in the slide tray's advancement or reversal is the breakage of the small Link (part 217769). This part is situated on the end of the solenoid actuator arm and is secured in place by a Rivet (part 159943). Replacing this component does not require a rocket scientist, but does necessitate a moderate level of mechanical aptitude.
Additionally, you may find that the focus motor gear (part FM-GEAR) and the gear adjacent to it (part 167348) require attention. It is advisable to remove the old gears before replacing the link, and then reinstall the new gears after the link has been successfully installed.
